In response to media reports about "informed sources," some of the balloons from communist China that recently harassed the Taiwan Strait detected by the Ministry of National Defense (MND) were released from CCP warships. The MND stated today (18th) that the Armed Forces have conducted meticulous control and supervision around our air defense identification zone with regard to airborne balloons, and notified the Civil Aviation Administration to alert aircraft to be mindful of such objects. As such, there was never such an incident as claimed by the media that high-altitude balloons were by CCP warships.
The MND stated that any enemy threats that endanger the security of our national defense will be included for study and analysis, and will be dealt with appropriately. As such, the media are urged to verify the facts to avoid misleading the public.
